Who Can Apply?

• Business type: Retail, restaurant, or service-related business.
• Location: Located in Commerce or seeking to open an eligible business in Commerce.
• Employees: Fewer than 20 full-time equivalent employees.
• City requirements: Hold required licenses and permits and be in good standing with the City of Commerce.

What Can Grant Funds Support?

• Interior and exterior building improvements
• Facade, signage, lighting, accessibility, and modernization improvements
• Eligible equipment and machinery
• Limited inventory or supplies for qualifying start-ups or business expansion
• Eligible design, architectural, licensing, and permitting costs

How to Apply

Submit a Preliminary Application beginning October 1. The City will review the submission for basic eligibility. Businesses that appear to qualify may be invited to complete the full application process.

Grant awards are subject to program requirements and City Council approval.

Important Requirement

Grant recipients are expected to remain operational for at least three years after grant issuance. If a funded business closes before the three-year period is completed, prorated repayment may be required.
