Public Works is responsible for supervising the collection of residential trash (through contractual agreement) and for maintenance of streets, street lights, sewers, storm drains, and the City-owned trees and water system.

Responsibilities

Public Works is responsible for administering and monitoring all City facilities utilizing resources available to the City, such as city staff, agreements with private contractors and/or professional servicing agencies for the following:

  • Bridge maintenance and construction
  • Curb, gutter and sidewalk maintenance and construction
  • Operation and maintenance of City water system
  • Public improvements in streets and alleys
  • Public rights-of-way
  • Refuse collection in residential areas
  • Renovation construction
  • Sewer maintenance and construction
  • Storm drain facilities
  • Storm drain maintenance and construction
  • Street lighting
  • Street marking and signing
  • Street sweeping
  • Surface street construction and maintenance
  • Traffic Commission
  • Tree service
  • Tree trimming, removal and planting
  • Water system improvement (including the pump station)
